What makes a good blog post?

  1. Have you given the post a title, and included the class and school name?
The readership of the blog will be mainly Scottish: language teachers in primary, secondary, FE and HE; teacher educators; language advisors/inspectors; educational administrators; as well as language professionals within and outside the rest of the UK. Please bear this in mind and ensure articles are well-written, well-structured, and have an appropriate tone. Content should be relevant to language teaching and learning in Scotland today.
  2. Are there any pictures of work/learners/activities? Do the pictures illustrate the story being told? Do you have the permissions for photos to be used publically?
Colourful photos or images will make any post more eye-catching. Be aware that the post will be published on our website. Please ensure permissions for photos have been cleared and that you own or have cleared the copyright for any images.
  3. Are there views/opinions/quotes from learners, teachers or parents?
Something along the lines of ‘This will add relevance to the story and increase its impact. Please try to credit quotes where possible.’
  4. Is the length appropriate?
Posts should be no longer than 300 words.
  5. How are posts submitted?
Posts should be submitted as an email attachment. Posts should be sent to judith.mckerrecher@strath.ac.uk. We aim to update content on the blog at regular intervals.
  6. Is there an editorial policy?
The editors reserve the right to edit or discount any posts. SCILT does not necessarily endorse the practice described on the blog.

We very much look forward to sharing your work and reading your excellent blog posts!  Thank you in advance for your contributions.
